What’s good YouTube, it’s your boy TonyD2Wild checking in. Today I finally picked up a rifle I have been waiting on for a long time. The HK MR556A1. I shot one at SHOT Show earlier this year and when Bullseye Indoor Range in Lawrenceville told me they had an 11.5 inch model in stock, I pulled up immediately.

Bullseye is one of the few stores in the city that carries high end brands like Staccato, Q, Noveske, Radian, B and T, SIG, Daniel Defense and even some real historical pieces. It is one of the most unique gun shops in Georgia.

I grabbed the MR556A1, threw a Holosun on top and went straight into the range. Shooting it unsuppressed indoors was loud, but the rifle felt incredibly smooth. Even without a full zero it was grouping well and staying consistent.

Then I mounted the B and T Rotex A5 suppressor. The HK quick attach system made it easy. Suppressed shooting brought a little more gas to the face and a slight shift, but the rifle still ran perfectly. The tone was cleaner and the recoil stayed flat. I want to try it with a flow focused can later to reduce backpressure, but for a first run it impressed me.

I also tested my SIG Rattler LT in 300 Blackout. Supers worked fine on the low gas setting. Subs did not until I switched to the higher gas setting. Once I did that the subs cycled perfectly. It confirmed that the old can I used previously was the issue. The Omega 300 made subs extremely quiet.

The MR556A1 lived up to everything people say about it. The build quality, recoil control and overall feel are top tier. This is easily one of the best rifles I have added to the collection. Next up is taking it outdoors and giving it a full breakdown.
