THE GLOCK GEN6 IS COMING, AND THIS ONE FEELS PERSONAL
GLOCK just announced the official countdown to the Gen6, and as someone who lives on the range, shoots weekly, and actually uses these guns for content, training, and real-world carry, I can honestly say this might be the most “for the shooter” generation GLOCK has ever made. And what’s crazy is, that’s exactly how they’re pitching it. They’re saying we wrote the story this time, not them. After looking at everything they’ve revealed so far, I actually believe it.
This isn’t a cosmetic refresh. This is a full ergonomic evolution.
BUILT AROUND THE HUMAN HAND, NOT JUST THE PLATFORM
GLOCK literally analyzed hands of all sizes before designing Gen6. And when you start breaking down the upgrades, you can tell they finally leaned into shaping the gun around the shooter instead of forcing the shooter to adjust to the gun.
These are the updates that stood out to me the most:
1. Palm SwellThe frame now has a natural palm swell that wraps into your hand instead of just giving you a blocky grip. This is going to help a lot of shooters get a more repeatable purchase, especially for rapid follow-ups.
2. RTF6 TextureA brand-new texture pattern that blends two textures into one. What's wild is they extended it into new zones like the thumb rest, giving you traction exactly where recoil tries to take it away.
3. Enlarged BeavertailThis is huge. Higher grip equals better recoil control. The Gen6 beavertail makes sure you can drive the gun higher without risking slide bite.
4. Enlarged Slide Stop BorderThis is such an underrated change. They’ve increased the border around the slide stop to prevent accidental activation with high thumbs. A lot of people, especially newer shooters, run into this without realizing it.
5. Thumb RestA textured, extended thumb shelf is now built in. This feels like GLOCK took a page from the competition world.
6. Deeper, Angled SerrationsFinally. Manipulations are going to feel more positive in wet, cold, or gloved conditions.
7. Undercut Trigger GuardHigher support hand placement with more comfort. No more “GLOCK knuckle” chewing your finger up.
8. Flat-Faced TriggerThis is standard on all Gen6 pistols. Consistent finger placement, cleaner break, and still maintaining GLOCK’s Safe Action System. This one is long overdue, and I'm happy they listened.
9. Optic Ready — But Actually Done RightStandard frame Gen6 pistols ship optic-ready with three dedicated optic plates, not a universal compromise solution. They designed this system for durability and adaptability, which is perfect for the way the industry is moving.
GEN6 OPTIC-READY SYSTEM
GLOCK is including three optic plates in every box. You can screw various optics directly into the slide, and the system looks purpose-built, not an afterthought. This is a big step because red dots aren’t “advanced accessories” anymore, they’re just standard tools.
WHAT YOU GET IN THE BOX
Each Gen6 pistol includes:
GLOCK Safe Action pistol
Three magazines
Magazine speed loader
Cleaning rod, brush, and patch holder
Instruction manual
Pistol case
Backstrap set
Three optic plates
Basically, everything you need to run the gun right out of the box.
MY EARLY TAKE
From everything shown so far, the Gen6 is shaping up to be the biggest Glock update since the jump from Gen3 to Gen4. Not because it looks flashy, but because every change is functional. Every feature solves a real problem shooters have been talking about for years.
This feels like a generation built by feedback, not by boardroom decisions. And as someone who handles these guns weekly for content and training, I can tell you this, ergonomics matter more than any cosmetic update ever will.
The countdown is live.39 days. 18 hours. 2 minutes. And trust me, the moment these hit shelves, I’ll have one in my hands.
Stay locked in. This is the first Glock in a long time that feels like a real evolution.
